Typhoon 9,10 & Overall

Forty seven boats in nine divisions turned up for the final day of racing in the Hebe Haven Yacht Club’s ever-popular Typhoon Series. Under sultry skies, the committee boat ventured out a long way past Shelter Island on Saturday, the 23rd of August 2026 before dropping anchor and raising the AP.

But, at 1305 five Cape 31s slipped away in 4 knots of easterly wind to a windward mark, as the other divisions prepared for two races, and possibly the abandoned Race 7. Last off were the PHS B & C divisions at 1330. It turned out to be a tactical race, as did Race 10, although the breeze had strengthened to nearly 7 knots by the end of racing. No chance of a re-sail.

Rampage38 won the Cape 31s in the first race, and Out of Africa took the honours in the second. Nightshift won both its races and Shenzhen Future Racing won the J/80 races. Full and detailed results can be found at https://www.hhyc.org.hk/yacht-race/typhoon-series/

Back at the clubhouse, after the individual race awards, prizes were presented for Overall to Rampage38, Seawolf, Nightshift, Saturday Again, Shenzhen Future Racing, Bits & Pieces, Aegean66, DEA II and Dolphin six. With their lavish prizes, sponsors MoanaRoad, ShiftCam and Navigare definitely made the event worth remembering!
